5/28/21 11:20a this apparent homeless and heavily intoxicated, “Michael” was asked by City’s roving security guard and CW member to get up and move along. This is part of the daily sit/lie ordinance enforcement on the Kekaulike Mall. The guards gave him a warning a hour earlier to move along but he remains on the ground passed out. The guards offer to call EMS but he was incoherent, totally intoxicated, flies all over his body, bandages look filthy and he request help to pick him up and onto his wheelchair. The guards and CW member was not about to be liable for something that may happen with moving this individual.
City’s guard and CW member was able to flag down the roving HawaiĘ»i Health and Harm Reduction Center response team, headed by Dr. Christina Wang MD. who was able to help Michael back on his wheelchair and wound care for his leg. Kudos to Moma and Dr. Wang in propping him back on the wheelchair and taking care of his open wounds.
