A Chinatown merchant or two had reported a nude male running around Chinatown earlier in the morning..
HPD and EMS was called on several occasions yet the male continued to roam around, going into stores, shoplifting and creating a mess. We’re told that HPD officers initial call and response was telling this man ‘ hey put on some clothes’ then left. Later HPD and EMS comes back and gave him something to wear, a white painters jumpsuit. Eventually still partly clothed and going in and out shops on Maunakea St. with his jumpsuit front wide open, HPD Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested him for indecent exposure. Officer Bonilla came later to take him in; hopefully to get some mental evaluation. Yes, we believe he needs help, having him roaming around totally nude in the middle of the day is a public nuisance.
Merchants at the 1000 block of Maunakea St are happy HPD finally showed up, pulled out the cuffs and was able to take him away after escalated warnings.
