Mahalo to HPD Corporal M. Nakagawa for addressing illegal peddling complaint on ‘Maria’ (last name, Nguyen) who continues to peddle produce on the city sidewalk. Today she was at the corner of 1000 Kekaulike St./ 140 N. King St. While waiting for the HPD to arrived, we witnessed Maria’s business was thriving. She was taking a case of fruits (as inventory) from others (who seemingly look homeless, stolen, shoplifted or EBT purchased) while making sales to others. Its is upsetting among the legitimate Chinatown merchants who pay rent for space and full price for inventory to see the ongoing illegal peddling that takes place. We see that Maria has hundreds of dollars of inventory daily.
