Friday morning (9/24/21) around 8:00a CW member was stopped in traffic on Maunakea St by a HPD officer who was guiding a tow truck pulling a late model fancy sedan from the sidewalk fronting 1113 Maunakea St. ,formerly Happy Garden Dim Sum Restaurant, it’s a vacant space now.
As the traffic flow on Maunakea St. CW member slows down again as a Chinese lady runs into the street, dragging her shopping cart in pursuit of tow truck. What a scene!! Apparently she was the lucky one towed from the sidewalk and she tried to talk to the tow truck operator to stop and release her car. Too bad, So sad that didn’t happen. The tow truck drives off and the lady looks bummed standing on the sidewalk with her grocery in tow. Good Luck sistah!
So nice to see more true enforcement of on-street parking including towing from these HPD clearly marked reserved parking on Maunakea St.
Thank YOU HPD for addressing those idiots who come and shop in Chinatown and disrespect the on-street parking and park illegally.
CW members see it daily where people park ON (yes ON the crosswalk) while they have their blinkers then stop, runs into a shop to get a pastry or lei or picking up an elderly person, so dangerous and not cool to be blocking pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic at times.
Today, this lady learned the hard way, too bad, so sad.
HEY PEOPLE, PARK IN A NORMAL METERED STALL OR IN THE PUBLIC LOTS, not where it is convenient for you. Don’t be a selfish idiot!
