Last night, Wednesday 10/24/2018, at about 9:15 p.m., I got off the bus on Hotel Street, mauka side, between Maunakea St. and River St.. I turned toward downtown and walked to the intersection of Hotel and Maunakea. As I waited for the light to change, I notice movement on the sidewalk on Maunakea St. about 30 feet past the intersection. I wondered if what I was seeing was someone lying on the sidewalk. Still waiting for the light to change, I looked down Hotel St. towards River St.. There, past the bus stop, were three other homeless setups and homeless people already lying on the ground. The light changed and I crossed Hotel St. and walked along Maunakea St. on the Ewa side. There were three homeless individuals sleeping in their cardboard shelters. My immediate questions were: (1) what happened to the law against this at this hour, and (2) right across the police station?
