Homeless people are avoiding the sit-lie ban by camping on the rooftop of the city-owned Smith Beretania Parking Garage. The City Stored Property Ordinace Office has sent crews to this location twice in the past month to remove trash from rooftop. However, the City never FULLY removes the trash or “bedding” (palm fronds, leaves, cardboard) and the homeless return within hours each time. Attached photo was taken 2 hours after crews “cleaned” this rooftop for the 2nd time in May. Residents, please direct complaints to HPD and the Honolulu Stored Property Ordinance office at 768-3585
