CW member was told about this incident first hand from Meko, the private security guard (works for Hawaii Protective Association) at Maunakea Market Place who encountered a possibly a Micronesian or Polynesian youth at TheBus stop fronting the Maunakea Market Place on N. Hotel St. This youth was walking along the sidewalk, swearing and yelling at bystanders for no apparent reason. Meko was able to approach and disarm the knife from this youth; HPD officers were called and he was taken away.. not sure if he was arrested. It was reported that this youth seem intoxicated and anxious. Incident happened Friday 8/13/21 12:00 p.m. there was a handful of witnesses around TheBus stop and neighboring businesses.
What if this youth did get violent with the knife?
What if the security guard was not present to deescalate this situation?
